INDEPTH: An Alternative to Suspension or Citation
Research suggests that school policies prohibiting tobacco product use, when consistently enforced, are an essential part of lowering teen tobacco use rates. It is just as important that all policies are balanced with educational programming for teens to further understand the consequences of lifelong dependence and addiction along with proven-effective strategies in supporting ultimate cessation, should they want to quit.
INDEPTH is taught by a trained facilitator in four, 50-minute sessions. Although INDEPTH is not a cessation program, 60 percent of student participants reported that they were willing to quit using tobacco products after completing the program.
On-site at school or online options available.

INDEPTH Online
Today, 2.8 million students report current use of a tobacco product, including e-cigarettes. Teens are becoming dependent on nicotine, and instead of getting education or support, they receive disciplinary measures or are suspended from school. INDEPTH Online offers a restorative solution.
This four-module interactive program teaches students about nicotine dependence, establishing healthy alternatives, and making the change to be free of all tobacco products.
To refer students to the program, please call (717) 273-6741 ext. 310 or email sierra@lebanonfamilyhealth.org. Facilitators monitor students’ progress and completion through an online dashboard.
Facilitator training is also available for free. To offer INDEPTH Online or become a facilitator, visit INDEPTHOnline.org or contact INDEPTH@Lung.org to learn more!

N‑O-T: Not On Tobacco®
NOT is an evidence-based program that gives teens the resources they need to break nicotine dependency and find healthier outlets. Approximately 90 percent of teens who participate in the program cut back or quit tobacco altogether. Post-program, Not On Tobacco® program youth also have been shown to have better grades, higher motivation, fewer absences, better relationships with teachers, and fewer school tobacco use policy violations.
N-O-T is taught by a trained and certified facilitator in ten, 50-minute sessions. Participants will talk about the importance of physical activity, nutrition, enhancing their sense of self-control, and improving life skills such as stress management, decision making, coping and interpersonal skills. Additionally, they will learn to identify their reasons for smoking or vaping, healthy alternatives to tobacco use and finding people who will support them in their efforts to quit.
Available FREE to the community.
We offer in-person classes at school sites and classes at LFHS.
